2014 MLK Celebration Features Poet, Activist Nikki Giovanni

World-renowned poet, commentator, activist and educator, Nikki Giovanni will be the keynote speaker for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at 7 p.m. on Jan. 24 in Kenan Auditorium.

One of the most widely-read American poets, Giovanni prides herself on being "a Black American, a daughter, a mother and a a professor of English." The author of 30 books for both adults and children, she is currently a University Distinguished Professor at Virginia Tech.
