UNCW Welcomes New Students, Families to Campus During Move-In 2013

Friday, August 09, 2013

The faculty, staff and greater Wilmington community will welcome new and returning students to UNCW with a week of events starting with "Move-In" on Saturday, Aug. 17. This year's eco-friendly move-in kicks off more than a week of back-to-school Seahawk celebrations.

Through the "Choose to Reuse" effort, UNCW hopes to reduce the consumption of 8,400 single-use plastic bottles used in 2012 to zero this year. In partnership with Port City Java, ARAMARK, UNCW Sustainability and Image Promotions, UNCW will be working to educate our community about water conservation and the importance of reducing plastic consumption.

Following Move-In, "UNCWelcome 2013" includes many activities for new and returning students to connect with each other as well as faculty and staff. Notable events taking place on campus and in the greater Wilmington community include the all-day Beach Blast celebration, campus fireworks and an involvement carnival.
