The UNCW Office of Distance Education and eLearning (DEeL) is thrilled to host the 2026 UNC System Quality Matters (QM) Summit! Join us for an exciting day filled with inspiring conversations, collaboration and new ideas!

This free event brings together educators, instructional designers, innovators, and leaders dedicated to advancing quality in online and hybrid learning through the QM framework, effective teaching practices and innovation. Innovation isn’t only about adopting something new — it’s about intentionally rethinking how we apply what works by refining, adapting and reimagining.

Summit Details

  • Event Date: Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: UNCW Library, Randall and Discovery Halls
  • Theme: Innovating with Intention: Elevating Online Learning Through QM
  • Keynote Speaker: Dr. Sheri Conklin, Associate Professor of Instructional Technology
  • 9:00 – 9:45 AM: Check-In & Breakfast
  • 10:00 – 10:15 AM: UNCW QM Summit Welcome
  • 10:30 – 11:30 AM: Lightning Talks
  • 11:45 – 1:00 PM: Luncheon & Keynote Address: Dr. Sheri Conklin
  • 1:15 – 2:00 PM: Breakout Sessions (Round 1)
  • 2:10 – 2:55 PM: Breakout Sessions (Round 2)
  • 3:00 – 3:30 PM: Closing Remarks & Networking

Please register to attend the 2026 UNC System QM Summit. Registration will close on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Same-day registration will not be available, so be sure to register early to reserve your spot. Attendees will first register for the QM Summit and will be notified when session selection becomes available. Register for the QM Summit!

The UNCW Office of Distance Education and eLearning (DEeL) invites proposals for the 2026 UNC System QM Summit.

Session Types:

  • 15-Minute Lightning Talks — Short, focused presentations highlighting quick wins, ideas, or demonstrations
  • 45-Minute Breakout Sessions — Deeper exploration of strategies, practices, and innovations

Proposal Themes:

  • Intentional Course Design
  • Innovative Teaching and Learning Strategies
  • Instructional Technology and Artificial Intelligence
  • Inclusive, Accessible, and Student-Centered Learning

Proposal Submission Deadline: Friday, May 29th at 11:59 p.m.

The Summit is hosted at the UNCW Library: Randall Hall and Discovery Hall. These connected buildings will host all Summit sessions, with check-in located in Discovery Hall.

Attendees will not require a parking pass. Reserved event parking will be available in the following lots:

We are pleased to offer a selection of hotel accommodations for conference attendees; all conveniently located near the UNCW campus. A variety of options are available to suit location preferences. Attendees are encouraged to book early to secure preferred rates and ensure availability.
