OSPREY was implemented by UNCW to address its new designation as an R2: Doctoral university and the discontinuance of RAMSeS, AIR, and IRBUS by the Systems Office in FY22.
This modern system is a web-based, collaborative environment with eight modules currently implemented: Proposals, Awards, Human Subjects, Conflict of Interest, Agreements, External Entities, SubAwards, and Technology Transfer. There are three potential forthcoming modules: Post Award Management, IACUC, and IBC (Environmental Safety).
OSPREY will automate and streamline the grants process by creating an integrated and collaborative workflow to minimize redundant data entry, eliminate the need for multiple applications and ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
The OSPREY project is overseen by a committee consisting of members from Research and Innovation, SPARC, RIO, IT, and the Controller’s Office. A small group of college grants administrators, internal staff, and faculty volunteers assist in user acceptance and testing.
Historical data and current grant processes were captured and migrated into the appropriate modules to ensure accurate reporting.
As always timelines are tentative, and we appreciate your patience.
An OSPREY specific SharePoint site is under construction and will be located in mySeaport under the Employee Essentials tab. This will act as a central hub for all OSPREY related information, including tutorials of all modules, processes, points of contacts, and updates.
