The Department of Biology and Marine Biology recognizes the importance of diversity within our department, university, community and the field of science.
The department created the Science Access, iNclusion and Diversity Committee (SAND) to actively increase our department’s diversity and inclusivity, and to support the department’s community of students, faculty and staff.
Like sand, we will change.
SAND's members are biology and marine biology faculty and graduate students seeking to educate ourselves and peers and create a more welcoming and supportive department.
Our goal is to contribute to a larger cultural shift on campus of increasing dialogue and action on systemic racism.
