Alumni

UNCW hosts several military-affiliated events each year, and we love to have alumni participate! Coming to our events is a great way to network with community members and other alumni. It's also an opportunity to give back to current UNCW students by sharing with them what life has looked like for you since graduation.

Community/Alumni Listserv and Social Media

Please email Melanie Nelson, the Military Student Services Specialist, if you would like to be included on the Community/Alumni email list (nelsonms@uncw.edu). This list is used to share upcoming events, such as guest speakers or military appreciation sports games, and it is a good way to keep up with what's happening at UNCW.

Alternatively, please consider following the Office of Military Affairs on one of our social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter: @uncwmilitaryaffairs; Instagram: @uncw_oma). These accounts are updated several times per week.

Veterans Hall

UNCW is making a major investment in the future of Military Affairs by expanding our real estate! Veterans Hall is currently under construction at the end of Chancellor's Walk, and it is due to open in 2020. The Office of Military Affairs will have a wing on the ground floor of Veterans Hall that will include a larger lounge, kitchen, and reception area; a training classroom; individual study tables; office space; and a sound-proofed quiet room, perfect for students who are commuting a long distance to UNCW.

The Military Seahawk Podcast

The Office of Military Affairs hosts a podcast through UNCW's Student Media and TealTV. On the first two episodes, we feature an interview with Brig. Gen. Donald Bolduc, U.S. Army, Retired, and his wife Sharon, also an Army veteran, plus an interview with Bill Kawczynski, the Director of Military Affairs at UNCW. New episodes coming Fall 2019! Listen at TealTV.org or stream The Military Seahawk Podcast on Spotify or Google Play.

Military-affiliated Scholarships

Each year, the Office of Military Affairs works through events like UNCW's Give More in 24 campaign and through community individuals and organizations to provide scholarships to current military-affiliated students. Scholarships may help defray the costs of attending UNCW, especially those costs not covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill or other VA benefits.
