Sea GEMS 10th Anniversary Celebration

As we celebrate MarineQuest turning 40 in 2020, we are also thrilled to recognize the 10th anniversary of our Sea GEMS (Girls Exploring Marine Science) program. In honor of empowering young female scientists for over a decade, we are hosting a very special field day on March 14, 2020. Together we will embark on a journey through the four fields of marine science, learn about current issues, develop technical skills, and engage in community service that benefits coastal habitats and organisms. We invite all young female scientists to join us at no charge for this very special event!

Join MarineQuest in highlighting our own Coastal Citizen Scientist, Katie Sullivan.  Serving as our AmeriCorps service member in charge of the Storm Surge Protectors program, Katie exemplifies a true service leader.   She will lead a wetland exploration that will focus on vegetation and hurricane mitigation work that is part of the Storm Surge Protectors program. Participants will take vegetation measurements, perform a field site assessment, and interact with a variety of wildlife found in our local marsh. Prepare for a fun and muddy day as a citizen scientist. Learn more about Katie’s work with Storm Surge Protectors by visiting its website.
