About Us

The Lumina Theater projectionist position is just one of the rewarding Student Employment opportunities available in the Department of Campus Life.

Open positions are posted to our Handshake page and are advertised on our Facebook (UNCW Campus Life) and Instagram (@uncw_campuslife) pages.

Because Campus Life is an on-campus employer, we work around your class schedule to provide work and training opportunities, offer training and professional development, and recognize our student employees through our student employee appreciation week and banquet.

About the Job

Lumina Theater supports a variety of events on a weekly basis ranging that includes film programming, lectures and presentations, panels, concerts, and more. The student Projectionist staff provide top-notch customer service to our clients and handle all technical aspects of their event. No prior technical experience is necessary - we'll provide all of the training.

What You'll Learn

The Projectionist position encompasses opportunities to grow many essential skills for your time at UNCW and beyond. Here are a few things our students learn on the job in Lumina:
  • Written & Oral Communication: While working as a Projectionist, you'll be required to complete written logs, compose professional emails, and communicate in person with a wide variety of on and off-campus clients.
  • Digital Technology: Students who work as Projectionists become familiar with setting up, using, and troubleshooting a wide variety of audiovisual equipment.
  • Professionalism & Work Ethic: Balancing on-campus work with your classes and extracurricular endeavors means learning how to manage your time wisely and work well both in the classroom and outside of it.
