Where are they Wednesdays: Stories of UNCW Spanish Alumni

Rachael Jiménez-Lange Class of 2012, Spanish BA with Teaching Licensure

Why did you study Spanish?

I originally started as a Spanish minor and just wanted to spend more time learning Spanish! I wanted to be better prepared to work with Spanish- speaking immigrant families in the community and in teaching environments.

How do you use Spanish now?

I most recently was an EducationUSA Adviser in Talca, Chile where I worked and lived for a little over the past 4 years. I gave presentations and advised Chileans about how to apply to U.S. higher education. I used my Spanish to speak to my advisees and their families as well as created promotional and social media content. Previous to this position, I was a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in 2012-2013 and a Spanish teacher at Claxton Elementary School in Asheville, NC from 2013-2015.
