New Hanover County Schools Announces Winners from 2018 Science and Engineering Fair

New Hanover County Schools recently held its annual Science and Engineering Fair with 150 students in grades 3 through 12 participating. Students entered their projects in categories such as biological science, earth science, physical science, and technology/engineering. Judges from local schools, businesses, community, and government agencies interviewed the students and judged the students’ entries. An award ceremony followed the Science and Engineering Competition.

Selected projects from the New Hanover County winners will advance to the Regional Science Fair Competition, which will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018, on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW), Watson College of Education. Read more >


NHCS, UNCW to Open Future Teachers Career Academy

In October, New Hanover County Schools and the University of North Carolina Wilmington announced the creation of the Future Teachers Career Academy at Isaac Bear Early College High School. The FTCA is a joint initiative between the Watson College and NHCS, designed to give high school students an early opportunity to work toward becoming a teacher.
