Institutional Research: Reporting Services

We provide support for institutional and external reporting such as Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) Codes, Student Data Mart (SDM), Human Resources Data Mart (HRDM), and Data Definitions.

Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) Codes

CIP Codes are developed by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). CIP codes are used to track and report student enrollment and degree completions by field of study. NCES CIP website. View UNCW’s approved inventory of degree programs with CIP codes below.

Student Data Mart (SDM)

SDM is the UNC System’s process to extract institutional student data from each member institution’s ERP system for official reporting purposes. The primary data extractions/loads occur four times each semester, creating four snapshots: Beginning of Term (BOT), Census, End of Term (EOT), and Post Grades (after grades have been recorded, and degrees awarded). Every September SDM also performs an annual Financial Aid load to collect data for the previous financial aid year. SDM serves as the official record for reporting institutional student data and characteristics, including enrollment from SDM Census snapshots and degrees awarded from SDM Post Grades snapshots.
