Summer Programs at UNCW

UNCW offers two summer sessions with 4-week, intensive classes.
Visiting internationals must take 1 face-to-face class per session.

Many visiting international groups can experience summer in Wilmington:

  • Faculty-led groups from international partner universities

  • Exchange and study abroad international students

  • International "gap-year" students

Students will submit their desired course list and the Office of International Students & Scholars will register students for their requested courses.

April 1 Last day for Summer Session 1 nominations and students apply
May 13 - 10am Recommended arrival date, UNCW residence halls open at 10am (Wilmington, NC airport - ILM).
May 14 International Student Orientation
May 17 Classes Begin.
May 31 Memorial Day. National holiday; no classes.
June 15 Last day of classes.
June 17 Final examinations.
June 18 On-campus housing closes for Summer 1 students at 10:00am.

Summer Session 2 (2021)

May 1 Last day for Summer Session 2 nominations and students apply
June 22 Recommended arrival date, though UNCW residence halls open on June 20th at 10am (Wilmington, NC airport - ILM).
June 24 International Student Orientation
June 28 Classes Begin.
July 5 Independence Day. Holiday observance; no classes.
July 20  Last day of classes.
July 22 Final examinations.
July 22 On-campus housing closes for Summer 2 students at 10:00am.

*Note: Students can arrive a maximum of 30 days prior to their program start date and depart a maximum of 30 day after their program end date with the J-1 visa.
