GLS 592 - Religious Views on Death and Dying

This course explores and compares religious views of death and dying from a variety of religious traditions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Sikhism. For each tradition, we will consider the following questions:
- How do they understand the nature of death?
- Do they ascribe meaning and value to death?
- Do they recommend a particular religious practice at the moment of death?
- What funeral rituals are advocated within their tradition?
