Anthony James, PhD

MALS Part-time Instructor (Onlsow County Extension Program)

Anthony is a native eastern North Carolinian with a B.A. in Southern Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.A. in American History from North Carolina State University, and Ph.D. in American History from the University of Mississippi. Research interests in southern history, African American history, and manhood have resulted in publications in The Journal of Mississippi History, Mississippi Folklife, The Historian, and American Masculinities: An Historical Encyclopedia. In 2000, Anthony participated in a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute on Civil Rights at Harvard University. Currently, Anthony teaches history at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, and lives in Swansboro.
