GLS 570: Black Mountain School of North Carolina

Intensive study of the highly innovative and interdisciplinary Black Mountain School (1933-1956), its root in European and American culture, and its remarkable legacy. Special emphasis on poetry, the visual arts, and performing arts and such leading figures as Charles Olson, Robert Duncan, Robert Motherwell, William de Kooning, John Cage, and Merce Cunningham.
