Fraternity and Sorority Life

Give your time, talent, and donations to your forever fraternity and sorority community!

"Not just four years but truly a LIFETIME!"

Membership in a fraternity or sorority is a lifelong commitment that continues to benefit members long after their college graduation. Reasons to stay involved as an alum are very similar to the reasons someone might join a fraternity or sorority in college: networking, friendship and service. Similar to undergraduate membership, you get out of the experience what you put into the experience. Take a look below to learn ways that you can continue to give to get the most out of your fraternity or sorority membership.

Serve as an advisor.

If you’re interested in serving as an advisor reach out to our office, contact the local chapter advisor, or reach out to the inter/national organization. They will determine whether or not the chapter is in need of advisors and what role might be best suited to your skills and strengths. Each inter/national organization has a different process for advisor recruitment, selection and training; but will generally require some formal paperwork and provide training. Depending on which officer or officers you advise, your time commitment will vary.

Join an alumni chapter in your area.

Your inter/national headquarters has information on alumni/grad chapters near you nationally and internationally. Once you have located a chapter near you, contact a member of the alumni chapter to find out how to join and when they host events.

Volunteer for your inter/national organization.

Visit your inter/national organization’s website for more information on how to get involved. Volunteer positions can range from a variety of different roles within the inter/national organization.  As a volunteer, there can also be various opportunities for professional growth and development from the inter/national organization!

Other ways to stay involved:

  • As Alumni you can choose to donate to the Greek Affairs account and help bring programs, events, and send future leaders to conferences for professional development and growth within the FSL community
  • Attend Alumni events with UNCW and your local organization
  • Volunteer with your local/national organization when they are holding community service events or fundraising for your organization's philanthropic partner
  • Often chapters plan events they may ask for volunteers to help decorate, plan, and or execute events
  • Have some skills or knowledge that would be beneficial for college students about to graduate? Ask the chapter to host workshops and share your knowledge with your brothers/sisters!
