- To purchase the film production equipment students use to practice motion picture craft, express themselves, and develop their creative voices.
- To support applied learning programs and publications such as the Visions Film Festival and Conference and Film Matters.
- To support internships that provide students access to mentors, training, and vocational experience in Los Angeles, New York, and Europe.
- To support student-programmed film series.
- To fund student scholarships.

The Film Studies Department is developing a nationally recognized program that plays a vital role in the North Carolina film community and industry.
