UNCW’s Upperman African American Cultural Center is offering a full calendar of events celebrating the legacies and histories of African descendants in America in observance of Black History Month. Visit the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion’s website for details and to register.

The Center for Southeast North Carolina Archives and History at the Randall Library is hosting “Serving Herself: The Life and Times of Althea Gibson,” a Zoom discussion with University of Chicago’s Ashley Brown at 7 p.m. on Feb. 16. Dr. Brown will discuss her new biography of famed African American tennis star Althea Gibson.
The 2023 African American Read-In will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21 in the Education Building, Room 162. This event is sponsored by Randall Library, the Watson College of Education and Department of English.
