Isaac Prilleltensky to Deliver Honors College Spring Lecture

Tuesday, February 26

The Honors College at UNC Wilmington will host a lecture by Isaac Prilleltensky, vice provost for institutional culture at the University of Miami. “Mattering is No Laughing Matter: Using Humor and Science to Promote Wellness and Fairness,” will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 in Lumina Theater, followed by a reception in the Clock Tower Lounge.

Prilleltensky works with individuals, organizations and communities to promote well-being through speaking, consulting, coaching, laughing and writing. He also leads a research team that developed Fun for Wellness, a research-based platform to promote health and wellness using videos, games and humor.

He has published 10 books and more than 130 articles and chapters on individual, organizational and community well-being. His book, The Laughing Guide to Well-Being: Using Humor and Science to Become Happier and Healthier, offers a series of funny stories and a user-friendly guide to health and happiness.

Each spring, the Honors College selects a speaker to lead an interdisciplinary, scholarly discussion about current issues and trends. The Department of Psychology, Academic Affairs, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Counseling Center have collaborated with the Honors College to sponsor this event.

The event is free and open to the public.
