Dean's Lecture Series in the Humanities

Steven Hutchinson, University of Wisconsin-Madison, will deliver both a workshop and keynote speech as part of the Dean’s Lecture Series in the Humanities. The workshop, "Imagining Africa in the Early Modern Era," will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6 in Leutze Hall 143, and will focus on 15th- to 18th-century European configurations of Africa, particularly by way of the writings and maps of Spanish and Portuguese captives, slaves, missionaries and diplomats.

Hutchinson's keynote speech "Writing Algiers (16th-18th Centuries)" will take place at 6 p.m. on Feb. 7 in Lumina Theater. Both events are free and open to all.
