Journalist Karen Branan to Deliver Campus Lecture, “The Family Tree: Getting Honest About White Southern History”

Karen Branan, veteran freelance journalist, will deliver a keynote speech, “The Family Tree: Getting Honest About White Southern History,” at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18 in the Computer Information Systems Building, Room 1008.

Branan has written for newspapers, magazines, stage and television for almost 50 years. Her work has appeared in Life, Mother Jones, Ms., Ladies’ Home Journal, Good Housekeeping, Today’s Health, Learning, Parents, Star Tribune (Minneapolis), The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and on PBS, CBS, ABC, CBC, BBC and CNN.

The Department of Sociology and Criminology, the Women’s Studies Resource Center and the Department of Communication Studies have collaborated to sponsor this event.

The event is free and open to the public.
