Chancellor's Distinguished Lecture Series Featuring Donald Godwin ’69

Donald Godwin ’69, chairman and CEO of the Executive Committee of Godwin Bowman & Martinez, is the next speaker in the 2018-19 Chancellor’s Distinguished Lecture Series. The UNCW alumnus will speak at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31 in the Burney Center.

For more than 40 years, Godwin has tried significant jury cases in courts throughout Texas and across the United States. Godwin’s practice covers a broad range of areas with an emphasis on complex litigation. Notably, he has served as trial counsel for Halliburton, Ray Hunt and Hunt Consolidated Company.

Board-certified in civil trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, Godwin has received numerous prestigious honors, including recognition on “The Best Lawyers in America” list since 2012. He was also named among the “Top 100 Lawyers in Texas” by Thomson Reuters nine times and was selected for inclusion on the “Lawdragon 500,” a list that highlights the 500 leading lawyers in the country.

The Chancellor’s Distinguished Lecture Series brings executives, government officials, academic professionals and nationally recognized speakers to UNCW to speak on topics related to the priorities outlined in UNCW’s Strategic Plan. The program provides students with experiences designed to enhance their professional knowledge.

The lectures are open to students, faculty, staff and the public, but registration is requested.
