Additional Information

The eighth annual Local Food Conference, presented by Feast Down East and the Cape Fear Food Council, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16 in the UNCW Burney Center. The event brings together farmers, fishermen, retailers, establishments, advocates and community leaders who support and grow the local food system in southeastern North Carolina.

Attendees will be treated to a locally-sourced lunch prepared by UNCW Campus Dining chefs. Many ingredients will be sourced from the Feast Down East Food Hub or directly from area farms and fisheries. Local chefs, farmers and community champions will be recognized for their contributions to the local food movement with the annual Agrarian Stewardship Awards.

From 1:30 to 3 p.m., a Community Foods Expo will be on display in the Burney Center lobby. Representatives from local and statewide organizations will be on hand to talk about their programs and services. The expo also includes a food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
