WITX 2017

Monday, April 10

Additional Information

The 14th annual Wilmington Information Technology eXchange (WITX) will be held in UNCW’s Computer Information Systems building on April 10. Students, faculty, staff and regional IT professionals are invited to participate. WITX offers participants the opportunity to explore ideas through learning eXchanges, IGNITE presentations and a keynote by Michael King, an expert in biometrics and identity intelligence.

Keynote speaker Michael King is a research scientist at the Florida Institute of Technology’s Harris Institute for Assured Information and an associate professor in the Department of Computer Sciences and Cyber Security. He has been recognized as an expert in biometrics and identity intelligence and served as intelligence community department lead for the White House. His presentation, “The Implications of a Connected Society on Identity Protection and Privacy: What’s in Your ‘Cyber’ Wallet?” will challenge the audience to question the broader implications of a connected society on identity protection and privacy.

Introducing students to new approaches that aim for continuous improvement is a key feature of the UNCW Strategic Plan. By involving students, faculty and staff in hosting exhibits, WITX supports innovation and community engagement. The event is sponsored by CastleBranch, TEK Mountain, Fidelity Investments and TEK Systems.

Registration is required for all attendees by April 8. The event is free for students, faculty, staff and community members; a fee will apply for anyone attending the keynote address and learning eXchanges. Visit the WITX website for more information.
