The Applied Learning Summer Institute

The Applied Learning Summer Institute

What is The Summer Institute?

Summer Institute SunEvery summer before classes begin, ETEAL hosts a two day conference full of programming and workshops about Applied Learning. This is The Summer Institute, an event where experts from within UNCW and across the nation gather to facilitate workshops on teaching practices and techniques. There are also many activities and discussions within the Institute designed to help Faculty and Staff understand Applied Learning here at UNCW, to formulate Applied Learning lesson plans, to understand how to get the resources and support they need to carry out an Applied Learning initiative, and so much more. If you're interested in hearing more about how this year's Summer Institute went, check out the Summer Institute Report!

Past Summer Institutes

The 2017 Applied Learning Summer Institute

Our 2017 Applied Learning Summer Institute featured more than sixteen and a half hours of programming, many of which featured our nationally acclaimed keynote speaker Todd Zakrajsek! Over the course of two days, Faculty and Staff from across UNCW engaged critically with ideas and concepts related to learner-centered teaching, including a lot of great ideas about the importance of applied learning in lectures. For additional details and information see our Applied Learning Summer Institute report for 2017 below.
