UNC System Employee Engagement Survey

What

UNC Wilmington is participating in the UNC System Employee Engagement Survey, a five-year projected developed to support the UNC Strategic Plan. It is a regularly scheduled survey on workplace satisfaction that took place in 2018, 2020 and will take place again in 2022 at all UNC institutions as part of the UNC System Strategic Plan.

The survey, which is administered to all permanent faculty and staff, will create a comprehensive, longitudinal view of faculty and staff engagement at the various institutions and across the System.

The survey is being administered through an outside vendor, ModernThink. ModernThink is the only entity that can access or view raw survey data and individual responses.The system has contracted with ModernThink, an independent research and consulting firm that specializes in higher education climate assessment, to administer the survey.

Why

Honest feedback matters. The surveys and their results will allow UNC Wilmington and system leaders to recognize successes and understand concerns that influence workplace culture. Among the topics explored are collaboration, communication, supervision, workplace culture, and benefits. The survey results may also assist the UNC System in advocating for improvements to human resources policies at the statewide level that are generally beyond the University’s institutional control.
