I have been privileged to serve students at UNCW since 2002 as an academic advisor, instructor, and liaison to community college students. Inspired by my volunteer service with the Northern Virginia Literacy Council, I decided to pursue additional training in education. I returned to NC, earned
When I'm not advising students, you can find me spending time with my daughters, reading a good book (I love suggestions), and kayaking on the beautiful waterways of Wilmington and Lake Waccamaw.

Lead Academic Advisor; Advisor for main campus Elementary Education majors and pre-majors (last names I-K), and all Education of Young Children majors.
I earned an undergraduate degree in art history from UNC Greensboro, and a master's in library science from NC Central University. I am also an alumna of the Watson College of Education, graduating in December 2013 with a Master of Science in Instructional Technology. Prior to coming to the Watson College, I served as the director of continuing education for UNCW. I also have experience working in continuing education at the community college level in addition to working in economic development, sales and marketing (Wilma magazine and Greater Wilmington Business Journal), and university fundraising.
I love being an advisor! My favorite part is working with students, getting to know their individual strengths and interests, as well as their unique characteristics and career goals, and helping them accomplish what they set out to do. When I'm not working in the advising center, I can be found in my flower garden, walking the beach looking for shark's teeth and seashells, riding my bicycle, hiking, writing, reading or cooking.

I received my A.A. from Cape Fear Community College before completing my B.S. in Business Administration/Marketing at UNCW. I was a part of the first cohort to complete the Watson College of Education’s M.Ed. in Higher Education program.
I always have a passion for helping others achieve their goals, and accomplishing my own goals along the way. Previously, I worked for CFCC for nearly nine years in the Admissions Office assisting students to realize their path and reach their personal and academic goals. When I am not working, you will find me with my wife, traveling. Some fantastic places we’ve visited include Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, St. Thomas, Ocho Rios—amazing scuba diving in St. Maarten! I love sports, notably the Carolina Panthers, and I enjoy video games, movies, food, and animals. I teach martial arts locally, and I currently hold a 3rd-degree black belt in Hapkido.
