UNCW is closely monitoring the rapidly changing situation with the new coronavirus (COVID-19). The most recent message issued from the university will appear at the top of the list below. Major developments will continue to be shared with employees and students via campus email. Based on UNC System guidance and the latest information available regarding social distancing guidelines, all summer 2020 courses (May-August) will take place online.

Consistent with UNC System guidance, housing and dining meal plans will be refunded based on a start date of March 23, 2020, which was the day after the deadline for students to vacate their residence halls if they had not received exceptions to remain on campus. The “food dollar” portion of meal plans will be credited based on the remaining food dollars that have not been utilized.

In recognition of the unprecedented challenges students and faculty face in finishing the current semester, UNCW has announced a new policy allowing students in many courses to opt into Pass/Fail grading for many courses after the semester ends and grades are reported.

Governor Roy Cooper issued a stay-at-home order in an effort to help mitigate the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in North Carolina. The statewide order will be in effect through April 30, 2020. Shortly after that, New Hanover County issued additional restrictions, which will be in effect until April 14, 2020.
