Shannon Gentry earned her undergraduate degree in psychology at UNC-Pembroke in 2005 and was a research assistant at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis before serving as a Peace Corps volunteer from 2007-2009. Her time teaching English as a second language in Tonga, South Pacific led to pursuing an MFA in writing from Savannah College of Art and Design (2012). A professional writer and editor, Professor Gentry teaches Strategic Writing in IMC for the Dept. of Communication Studies, as well as First-Year Seminar (UNI) for University College. Her work is featured in various publications, including WILMA and Encore magazines in Wilmington, NC.
