Shannon Gentry earned her undergraduate degree in psychology at UNC-Pembroke in 2005 and was a research assistant at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis before serving as a Peace Corps volunteer from 2007-2009. Her time teaching English as a second language in Tonga, South Pacific, led to pursuing an MFA in writing from Savannah College of Art and Design (2012). While Professor Gentry teaches Writing as Strategic Communication for the Dept. of Communication Studies, she also is a First-Year Seminar (UNI) instructor for University College and assistant editor at Encore and Devour magazines in Wilmington, NC.
