Senior Lecturer David M. Bollinger received his B.A. in communication studies from UNC Wilmington, after transferring from UNC Chapel Hill. He received his M.A. in speech communication with a concentration in theory and research from UNC Greensboro. He teaches courses in rhetorical and communication theory, and communication/rhetorical analysis. His focus and research interests are in the rhetoric of conspiracy and its origins, causes and effects. He has been interviewed by local media as well as National Public Radio for his expertise in this area. At other times he teaches the senior capstone, interpersonal communication, mass media, communication ethics, business communication, politics and film, and debate. He received the UNCW Discere Aude Outstanding Faculty Award in 2011, and the UNCW Lecturer of the Year Award in 2013. He is a UNCW Leadership Development Fellow (2019). He is a member of the UNCW Honors Faculty and teaches regularly. He served as the faculty advisor to the honors society for the department, Lambda Pi Eta, from its inception and chartering in 2003, to 2011. In 2010 and 2011 he has also served as a delegate from the UNCW faculty senate to the UNC faculty general assembly in Chapel Hill and was nominated and elected by his caucus to serve on the Executive Committee in 2011. Other university service includes mentoring new faculty, the campus judicial and honor boards, UNCW athletic council, chair of the faculty senate university advancement committee, the admissions appeals committee, and the Provost Advisory Council. He is currently Co-Chair of the Fixed-Term Faculty Committee. He has been a member of the faculty at UNCW since 1998. In his (rare) spare time he acts and works on music.
