On Wednesday, March 29, Dr. Bennet Omalu spoke at UNCW’s Burney Center as part of the CHHS Health Transformation Lecture Series and Health and Human Services Week.

Dr. Omalu is the physician, forensic pathologist and neuropathologist who discovered chronic traumatic encephalopathy in former NFL players.

In his inspirational lecture, Dr. Omalu talked about his life's journey, his groundbreaking research and findings, the impact of this information on his career and the NFL and how he became one of the biggest disrupters in the history of sports and medicine.

Earlier the same day, Omalu visited McNeill Hall for a discussion of his revolutionary work and the impact of his findings on the institutions of sports and medicine. The discussion was followed by a luncheon in the Golden Hawk Room at Trask Coliseum.
