Project SOAR had its kick-off social on Thursday, Dec. 1 at Camp Lejeune’s Wounded Warrior Battalion-East. The social was hosted by CHHS recreation therapy students.

The project is a collaboration between UNCW’s College of Health and Human Services and ACCESS of Wilmington, Inc. and is funded by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.

The Battalion presented the members of the project with a Certificate of Appreciation for serving the wounded, ill and injured service members in the southeast region of North Carolina.

Project SOAR will be providing sport and recreation opportunities including archery, curling, cycling, kayaking, surfing and scuba to veterans and members of the armed forces living with disabilities in southeastern North Carolina.
