Before You Leave for Winter Break….

With the end of 2016 quickly approaching, we ask that all CHHS faculty/staff help us prep for our time away from the building. Remember these tips when you leave for winter break to keep your office space energy-efficient, safe and healthy.

  • Ensure all food or consumables are removed from desk and offices (check trash, desk drawers, etc.)
  • Make sure you take out your trash and recycling, even if there are no consumables. This will help avoid unwanted visitors.
  • Make a visit to common spaces such as lounges to pick up personal items (including food, drink and other items).
  • Shut off and unplug small appliances, like coffeepots and microwaves in your area.
  • Take a moment to turn off and/or unplug all energy-consuming devices that are not required in your office, labs and common areas.
  • Secure doors, drawers, cabinets in your area appropriately. Remember to take your key and ID card with you.
  • Appropriately prep any specialty equipment for the extended break. Don’t assume someone else is taking this initiative.
  • Create out-of-office messages for email and phone calls.
  • Update passwords to ensure you don’t lose access over the break.

Enjoy the break… wherever you spend it, we wish you well!

Travel Updates

A Few Reminders About the Travel Process

Are you planning to travel to a conference as part of professional development? Maybe there is a workshop you would like to attend on behalf of your program. No matter the reason why, if you are planning to travel, please keep these steps in mind:

  1. Complete a CHHS Professional Development/Program Travel Request Form. The form can be found here. Please be sure to fill in as much information as possible.
  2.  Be sure to have your director/department chair sign off on the form. If you are in the School of Nursing, remember to forward the form on to your program coordinator as well.
  3. Send your completed and signed travel authorization form to Lesley McCoy at either or Also, please send any additional travel information such as flight itineraries, car rental info or hotel information.
  4. Keep an eye on your email. You will receive an email asking for your approval of the travel authorization. The travel authorization does not need to be 100% perfect as long as the following information entered is correct: Name of traveler, dates of travel and travel destination.
  5. The day after you return from your trip, you should receive a return email from Lesley McCoy asking for original receipts to be turned in to the Business Services office by a certain date. Please keep in mind that the sooner you turn your receipts in, the sooner you have your reimbursement in your pocket!!J
  6. Once the reimbursement has been entered, you will receive another email asking for your approval of the reimbursement. If you see something questionable about your reimbursement, please let Lesley know as soon as possible and do not approve the reimbursement until your concern has been addressed. It is harder to cancel a reimbursement once it has been processed.

If you have any questions or concerns at any point during the travel process, please do not hesitate to contact Lesley McCoy or Nathan Holtsclaw.
