Program: 3 years (9 semesters), admits 40 students, and starts in January.

Application: Apply between February and September 1st. Program admits students on a rolling basis, so apply early. An interview is a part of the process.

In-State Tuition (total): $96,300. This does not include additional costs/fees ($10,900).

  • Average health care experience: 50 hours required in a variety of clinical settings.
  • Three letters of recommendation: We strongly recommend 2 of 3 letters of recommendation come from a PT.


All prerequisites must be completed no later than December 31 of the year prior to matriculation. All pre-professional academic work must be done at a regionally accredited institution in the U.S. Science prerequisite course work must be completed within the last 10 years. All prerequisite courses must have earned college credit hours. All prerequisite courses must have an earned grade of "C" or higher.

  • Two semesters of human anatomy and physiology with labs (this may be taken as two combined A&P courses with lab or one anatomy course with lab and one physiology course with lab) – 8 credit hours (UNCW: BIO/L 240 and BIO/L 241)
  • General chemistry with lab – 4 credit hours (UNCW: CHM 101)
  • Two semesters of general physics (algebra) with lab – 8 credit hours (UNCW: PHY/L 101 and PHY/L 102)
  • Upper level biology (300+) with or without lab – 3-4 credit hours
    • 3-4 hours of exercise physiology with or without lab will be accepted to meet one upper level biology course (UNCW: EXS/L 320)
  • Statistics (math or psychology) – 3 credit hours (UNCW: STT 210 or STT 215 or PSY 225)
  • Two semesters of social sciences (psychology or sociology) – 6 credit hours (UNCW: PSY 105 and SOC 105 would meet University Studies)
  • Math (algebra or higher with trigonometry preferred) – 3 credit hours (UNCW: MAT 111 or higher)
