Barbara BarryBarbara Barry joined the SON faculty in 2018 with more than 13 years of teaching experience in nursing, 12 years of direct nursing care, and 10 years of clinical laboratory technology experience. She has a passion for adult health care and recently obtained her Adult-Gerontology nurse practitioner from Duke University. Prior to this, Barbara earned her BSN from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and her MSN with a concentration in nursing education from Duke University.

She is a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served three years active duty and two years Air National Guard as a Medical Laboratory Specialist. Her teaching responsibilities include coordination of the Adult Health II Clinical for senior level nursing students in their final semester of the pre-licensure nursing program. This course focuses on care of the patient with complex health problems. She also teaches across the curriculum in the online RN-BSN program. Barbara states her passion is to contribute back to the nursing profession through education and guidance of nursing students, patients, and the community regarding preventive health measures, healthy lifestyle and complex disease management.
