Lenis P. Chen-Edinboro, Ph.D., Ed.M., Assistant Professor

Lenis Chen-EdinboroLenis P. Chen-Edinboro earned her B.S. in Biology from Duke University and her Ed.M. in Arts in Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She completed her Ph.D. in Human Nutrition in the department of International Health and a postdoctoral fellowship in the department of Mental Health at The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She joined the faculty at UNCW in August 2015. She has taught the courses Introduction to Biostatistics; Public Health Practice; Research Methods in Public Health; and Nutrition, Behavior, and Mental Health (the latter at Hopkins). She is a professional member of the Gerontological Society of America, the American Public Health Association, and the Society for Public Health Education.

Dr. Chen-Edinboro’s scholarship focuses on lifestyle factors, such as nutrition and sleep, that relate to mental health and cognitive outcomes across the life span, including in older adults. Dr. Chen-Edinboro is also interested in the associations between nutrition and sleep. A different research interest of hers is the scholarship of teaching and learning.
