Kirk Brown, Ph.D., Associate Professor

Kirk BrownKirk Brown is the Founding Director of the Nationally Accredited Athletic Training Program and Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. His 36 years of athletic training experience includes working in the NFL, U.S. Olympic Training Center, Professional Rodeo, Sports Medicine clinics, as well as international experience in France working with the Nike USA elite men’s basketball.

Dr. Brown has served as a committee member for the North Carolina Medical Society, as a board member for the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Association and has served on the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Association Education Committee. He received his Master’s degree from Ohio University and his doctorate degree from Virginia Tech. His research interests are in the area of; designing and developing curriculum assessment models for a competency-based curriculum in higher education and conducting meta-analysis for the purpose of identifying injury trends in the adolescent population.
