CHHS Welcomes New Marketing and Communications Coordinator

CHHS welcomes Amy Mangus as the new Marketing and Communications Coordinator.

In this role, Amy will serve on the Leadership Team within the College of Health and Human Services.

“I’m honored to be selected for this position,” Amy said. “I’ve enjoyed a 20-year career in public service—four at East Carolina University—and I’m happy to be back on a college campus!”

Born and raised in Raleigh, N.C., Amy earned her Associate of Art from Saint Mary’s College and her Bachelor of Art in Communication from East Carolina University.

While at ECU, Amy said she struggled with finding a major. Her advisor suggested she take a personality test and the result was communication. She said she found the field to be versatile and fascinating.

“I’ve learned, and continue to learn, more about all aspects of human communication,” she said. “The field has evolved to encompass social media and graphic design, and I’ve embraced it.”

Amy said she has followed UNCW and its activities for years. “From research to cultural activities, UNCW is a gem in this community,” she said.

She was particularly interested in the work CHHS is doing to help individuals, families and communities live healthier and empowered lives, which is what led her to apply for the position.

“I’m excited to develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy for a college that has grown so rapidly and whose students, staff and faculty are enhancing health and quality of life,” she said.

In her spare time, she enjoys making jewelry, spending time with her husband on their boat and traveling.

Amy began her new role on March 29.
