YWCA Women of Achievement Awards Nominees

CHHS Faculty Nominated for YWCA Lower Cape Fear Women of Achievement Awards

3/21: Faculty from all three professional schools in the College of Health and Human Services have been nominated for a YWCA Lower Cape Fear Women of Achievement Awards.

  • Dr. Paula Baisden, lecturer, School of Nursing: Education Award
  • Dr. Jacquelyn Lee, associate professor, School of Social Work: Education Award
  • Dr. Amelia "Kit" Huelskamp, assistant professor, School of Health and Applies Human Sciences: Education Award
  • Dr. Nina Williams, lecturer, School of Nursing: Health and Wellness Award

The YWCA Lower Cape Fear Women of Achievement Awards recognizes the outstanding contributions and achievements of women and young leaders who are active in Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover and Pender counties.

Started in 1985, the event raises key support for YWCA’s programs and services that promote racial justice and gender equality for thousands of women and families in Southeastern North Carolina.

CHHS Dean Hardy said of the nominees, "I am extremely proud of our faculty. Each have been doing incredible work with their students and in the community to make positive impacts on the health and quality of life of residents in the state of North Carolina and beyond. It's great to see them nominated for their efforts."

Nominees for the award were recognized by their mentors, peers and colleagues. Winners will be announced virtually on Thursday, March 11 at 6 p.m. For more information and to register for the free event, womenofachievement.swell.gives.
