SHAHS Assistant Professor Elected to SOPHE Board of Trustees

1/21: SHAHS Assistant Professor Sabrina Cherry was elected to the 2021-22 Society for Public Health Education, Inc. (SOPHE) Board of Trustees.

Cherry.jpgDr. Cherry will serve a two-year position working with SOPHE staff to oversee SOPHE’s Advocacy and Resolutions Committee, policy positions and advocacy alerts. She also will oversee with the planning of the Annual Health Education Advocacy Summit.

Dr. Cherry will be inducted with 10 other officers and begin her term of office on April 6, 2021. 

"Sabrina brings outstanding skills, vision and partnerships to further enhance our SOPHE leadership team," SOPHE President Cam Escoffery said. “She will help strengthen SOPHE’s position to provide global leadership to the profession of health education and health promotion and to promote a healthy and equitable society."

Dr. Cherry has worked for nearly 20 years within the field of public health. She earned a Master of Science Public Health degree from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Theological Studies from Emory University and a Doctorate of Public Health, as a well as a Certificate in Interdisciplinary Qualitative Research from the University of Georgia.

SOPHE was founded in 1950 to provide global leadership to the profession of health education and health promotion.
