FuseCR Student Programs

FuseCR offers multiple programs for UNCW students who are interested in a career in the rapidly growing clinical research industry.

Career Preparation Assistance:

FuseCR offers students opportunities to prepare for the workplace through resume review assistance and mock interviews conducted by volunteer industry professionals. Clinical Research Pop Ins provide a platform for students to engage with their peers and discuss internships and career paths, and to review each others resumes and cover letters.  Soft skills trainings are available to enhance development of professionalism, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.

MentorCR: FuseCR Mentoring Program:

MentorCR is the new FuseCR Mentoring program. MentorCR pairs undergraduate students with experienced industry professionals in a formal, structured partnership. The program is designed to help orient students to the clinical research profession, build their professional networks, and increase their communication and leadership skills. MentorCR pairs each student with a mentor; pairs are expected to meet two-three times per month throughout the academic year--meetings can occur in person, on the telephone, or virtually.  Students and mentors will also have opportunities to attend two leadership seminars for MentorCR participants.

FuseCR Fellowship:

The FuseCR Fellowship is a competitive scholarship program requiring active participation in a team-based applied learning experience. For the 2018-2019 academic year, FuseCR Fellows will work together as a team to complete a program evaluation project. The group will apply their knowledge of scientific concepts to design and implement an evaluation of the FuseCR program, and will present their findings with a poster at UNCW’s Research and Innovation Day during Health and Human Services Week in April 2019.  Opportunities to pursue additional research projects may arise through the fellowship program. Scholarships for the 2018-2019 FuseCR Fellowship have been awarded.  Applications are no longer being accepted for this scholarship program.

FuseCR Student Ambassadors:

The FuseCR Student Ambassador program is a competitive scholarship program offering students opportunities to practice leadership, professionalism, and communication skills. FuseCR Student Ambassadors serve and represent the Clinical Research program within UNCW’s College of Health and Human Services (CHHS). Ambassadors will give tours and presentations about FuseCR, attend events to network and promote careers in the industry, and write about those who study and work in the field of clinical research. Scholarships for the 2018-2019 FuseCR Student Ambassador program have been awarded. Applications are no longer being accepted for this scholarship program.
