Health and Human Sciences Professor Storms the Court after Seahawks Win Big

Steven Elliott, SHAHS professorSchool of Health and Applied Human Sciences (SHAHS) Professor, Steve Elliott stormed the court (among other fans) on Monday night as the UNCW Seahawks defeated Hofstra at the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball championship game at Royal Farms Arena.

The Seahawks won 80-73, securing the first CAA championship in 10 years. The victory ensures the team a slot in the NCAA tournament.

Elliott attended the game with UNCW Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR), Sue Combs. Combs, in her role as FAR, works closely with athletics to help student athletes in the classroom.

"HAHS has an excellent relationship with athletics," Elliott said. "We were at the game, supporting the basketball team."

Elliott got the chance to hold the prized Tom Yeager trophy after he stormed the court in true champion fashion.

Elliott said, as an alumnus and current faculty member himself, he is so proud of the team and the coaches.

"I'm looking forward to selection Sunday to see who we get in the NCAA tournament," he said.
