Chief Diversity Officer Search

Message From the Chairs

Dear Campus Community:

We have officially launched the search for our next Chief Diversity Officer. This person in this position will help us to bring synergy to our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across campus. They will provide leadership for our diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives with critical attention to the ways we sustain an inclusive culture as we engage with diverse communities. The kind of person in this position will serve as a thought leader, trusted advisor, and effective communicator while developing a campus-wide vision for diversity, equity, and inclusion and building coalitions on campus and beyond. You may access the job description online.

We are pleased to have Academic Search Partners assisting the search committee in our search for the next Chief Diversity Officer. They bring more than 40 years of experience with executive-level searches. They are providing recruitment services, executive coaching, and transition support. Prior to the launch of the search, Academic Search Partners met with a number of stakeholder groups to learn about us, our culture for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and our hope for the future of UNCW. Quite intentionally, they used the ideas shared in those sessions to craft a position profile.

This search is possible only with the support of a dedicated search committee. It is our pleasure to introduce the members of that search committee. Applications for the position are due by Monday, June 21. From there we will identify a semi-finalist pool of candidates to interview via Zoom. Once those semi-finalist interviews are complete, the search committee will identify the final candidates for the position. We hope to have the position filled by the fall semester.

We invite you to be a part of the selection process. Please stay tuned for more specific information on semi-finalist interviews and, later, for more details about interview days for the finalists. Each candidate will have the opportunity to meet with various stakeholder groups, do a campus-wide presentation, and meet with the senior leadership. Your voice in this process matters to us.

This place is its people. Each day, through a global pandemic, you have risen, stepped up, and built an even better UNCW more strongly committed to the communities we serve. Join us in finding a colleague who can lead us in building with collective purpose.
