FAQ

Are textbooks available online?

Most textbooks are available digitally through the Bookstore’s YUZU platform. Students can purchase digital textbooks from the bookstore website where they will then receive an email on how to access their digital copy. If a textbook is not offered digitally for a course, students should contact their instructors to see if required course materials are available digitally on MySeaport or within Canvas. In the event that a digital format is unavailable and student must purchase a physical textbook, students can continue to place online orders to be shipped to the students’ home directly. The bookstore currently offers Free UPS ground as well as 2nd Day and Next Business Day shipping options for students would who like to pay for expedited shipping.

How do I use the VitalSource Helps program resource?

VitalSource Helps is a program designed to support students who may have lost access to course materials due to a campus moving to distance-learning to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This program is made possible by the leading publishers and campus retailers in US higher education. The program offers free access to tens of thousands of e-books through May 25, 2020 to Spring semester students and instructors at impacted 2 and 4-year non-profit institutions in the US. You may find information on how to access your free e-books here. Please note that this digital resource is available to students that have already purchased their textbook(s) but are not able to access the physical copy; this resource excludes access codes. 

How can I return my rentals now that I’m back home for the semester?

Returning a rental remains easy for any student who rented their textbook(s) from the bookstore! Students can access their Free UPS return label from our website where they will be instructed to simply enter in their order number, email address, and return address to print their free label from home.

I purchased my textbooks in the store, where can I find my order number?

Your order number will be included in the rental reminder emails that you will begin receiving closer to the end of the semester. If you are unable to locate your order number, you can reach out to the bookstore via email and we’d be happy to help!

Rentals are due on 5/7 but my last Final is not due until midnight and I need the book. Will I be charged a late fee if I ship my books after my Final on the 7th?

Students will not be immediately charged a late fee for shipping textbooks after their last Final on 5/7.  Students will have an extended grace period to return rentals to accommodate for the additional transit time needed to ship their textbooks from home. If you have any unique circumstances, please contact the Bookstore directly via email.

I purchased all of my textbooks instead of renting them, how can I sell them back?

Students will now have the ability to sell their textbooks back online! Students can type in the textbook ISBN, typically located above the barcode on the back of the book, onto our website to receive a quote and will then be able to print off a shipping label to ship their textbook(s). Students will receive funds via PayPal or physical check. Please double check to make sure your textbook(s) are not rentals before selling them back online as textbooks are shipped to a warehouse and not directly to the UNCW Bookstore. The Bookstore will not be able to reverse any transactions if students accidentally sell back their rentals. If you’re unsure if you rented or purchased your textbooks, please contact the Bookstore for assistance.

The Fisher Student Center is currently closed; can I continue to place online orders with the Bookstore?

Absolutely! Although the Fisher Student Center is currently closed, the Bookstore will still have staff working to process online orders and receive shipment. Students can confidently continue to place online orders and return their rentals with their free UPS label.

After you register for classes, you can login to your SeaNet account, view the textbooks you will need for the semester (based on your registration) and order your textbooks online from the UNCW Bookstore. You can choose to purchase new or used books, rent textbooks or and e-books (when available) to save money!
