Department of Biology & Marine Biology Career Opportunities

Assistant Professor in Marine Mammalogy 

The Department of Biology and Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Marine Mammal Biology, beginning in August 2022.  Candidates in any area of marine mammal research are encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant is expected to develop and maintain a nationally recognized, extramurally-funded research program that provides opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, and other research team positions (such as post-doctoral researchers) as appropriate. Upon initial appointment, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the Department’s teaching mission at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including our course on marine mammals, as well as other courses depending on individual expertise and departmental needs. Assistant Professor in Fish Biology

The Department of Biology and Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Fish Biology, beginning in August 2022. 
 
The successful applicant is expected to develop and maintain a nationally recognized, extramurally-funded research program that provides opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, and other research team positions (such as post-doctoral researchers) as appropriate. Upon initial appointment, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the Department’s teaching mission at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including a course in Ichthyology, as well as other courses depending on individual expertise and departmental needs. Assistant Professor in Coastal and Marine Biology

The Department of Biology and Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for a 9-month tenure track Assistant Professor position in Coastal and Marine Biology starting August 2022. 

The successful applicant is expected to develop and maintain a nationally recognized, extramurally-funded research program that provides opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, and other research team positions (such as post-doctoral researchers) as appropriate. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the Department’s teaching mission at both the graduate and undergraduate level in core areas of marine biology and coastal ecology, and other courses depending on individual expertise and departmental needs. Lecturer in Introductory Biology

The Department of Biology and Marine Biology at The University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a full-time lecturer to teach high-enrollment introductory biology courses beginning in August 2022. 

The successful candidate may also develop additional courses and inquiry-based learning experiences, as demonstrated by candidate strengths and departmental needs, and be expected to take an important role in departmental service. 

This is a renewable, non-tenure track position with the possibility of promotion based on experience and performance. 

Lecturer positions are nine-month appointments with the opportunity to contribute to summer teaching for additional, competitive compensation.
