Research Interests

My primary research focuses on cetacean ecology and climate change biology. I’m interested in using top predators as indicators of their ecosystems, past and present. I use a combination of field work methods to study contemporary populations and museum collection work to study historical populations.

In addition to scientific research, I frequently work at the intersection of the science and policy realms. I’m particularly interested in international marine conservation and policy and in improving communication between scientists and resource managers.
