
This spell-binding special event introduces children to the principles of air and pressure. Children see an incredible exothermic reaction take place and even get the chance to watch a hovercraft in action!
The show begins with two jesters setting the stage for the magician. The jesters explain how hilarious the show is and how they were just hired by the magician. Then, the worst possible thing happens. The magician doesn't show up! After a brief panic, one jester convinces the other that they can do the show without the magician. The problem is they've only seen the show ONCE!
Mr. Scooter is a storyteller, rapper and children's librarian from Wilmington, North Carolina. He has released two children's albums as Melvil Dewey - International Library Hip Hop Superstar and is the creator of the Book Wrangler and Rap Battle of the Books. Mr. Scooter is a Library Journal Mover, Shaker Innovator and NACO award winner. His work has been featured in School Library Journal and VOYA Magazine.
Madafo Lloyd Wilson is a storyteller and musician. His presentations are in the tradition of "Griot," the African Historian. He tells for all ages and is a highly skilled musician. Ahoy Mateys! Get ready for one of the most swashbuckling, slapstick adventures ye will ever see! In this particular production, two pirates confess to finding all the treasures in the world. Unfortunately, they didn't use their money wisely, so they were forced to find "real jobs". Captain Beard Black and Calico decide to become the world's only pirate/magicians. The problem is they aren't really cut out for magic either, hence the title - "Pirates Have Problems". Will they find treasure? And if they do, will they share it with you?

UNCW Presents is delighted to share a series of programs for families called SEAHAWK Family Arts Matinees, or SEAHAWK FAM for short. The series is BACK for Summer of 2022 with $5 performances on Thursday mornings, designed as a creative and entertaining respite from the summer heat.
