The Second City: Laughing for All the Wrong Reasons

Tickets to our first event of the new year would make the perfect gift for rebellious comedy fans! The Second City prides themselves on breaking the rules of humor, performing classic and original sketch comedy as well as unscripted improv. What’s better than giving the gift of comedy?
Ailey II 
Wednesday, February 5th, 7:30 p.m., Kenan Auditorium
 
For dance enthusiasts, consider tickets to see one of the most popular dance companies in the US. Ailey II is recognized for embodying diversity, passion, and outstanding choreography. This fusion of classical and contemporary dance is sure to be a culturally rich experience!
TheaterWorks USA: Charlotte's Web 
Saturday, March 14th, 2:00 p.m., Kenan Auditorium
  
This treasured tale, featuring madcap and endearing farm animals, explores bravery, selfless love and the true meaning of friendship. Presented by TheaterWorks USA, bring your kids to witness the classic, loving tale of friendship between a pig and spider.  

9 Horses 
Friday, March 20th, 7:30 p.m., Kenan Auditorium

Performing as part of UNCW’s annual JazzFest, 9 Horses is an improv-fueled string ensemble. Envisioning a musical future with no barrier between “folk art” and “fine art,” 9 Horses will feature original compositions and incendiary, genre-hopping virtuosity that any fan of jazz will find irresistible.  
Ballet Folclórico Nacional de México de SILVIA LOZANO 
Tuesday, March 24th, 7:30 p.m., Kenan Auditorium

Perfect for lovers of Latin American culture, this enchanting performance is an expression of folkloric tradition. The music, costumes, and choreography of this performance will transport audience members deep into Mexican culture. 

Simone Dinnerstein and Matt Haimovitz: Evening of Beethoven and Glass 
Thursday, April 16th, 7:30 p.m., Kenan Auditorium

Fans of contemporary music will rejoice for pianist Simone Dinnerstein and cellist Matt Haimovitz’s celebration of Beethoven and Glass. This collaboration creates a dynamic program that features a Beethoven Cello Sonata alongside a Glass Partita, and solo piano and cello repertoire by both composers. This program is sure to be a classic.
