Call For Entries: Public Art Installation

UNCW’s Office of the Arts is soliciting entries for an artist to design and implement the installation of an outdoor public art sculpture that will live on the UNCW campus. The public art sculpture will provide a place for gathering, interaction, learning and reflection. The installation will spark conversations about social injustice and the importance of the Black Lives Matter movement. The artist should consider:

  • How the site installation relates to campus.
  • How the site installation relates to the history of Wilmington, specifically the Wilmington Coup of 1898.
  • How the artist will engage students in conversations about the arts, social justice and involve students in the fabrication of the final design.
  • How the design celebrates the Black Lives Matter movement and shows UNCW’s support of the movement.
  • The design must be suitable for public display for viewing by citizens of all ages.
