UNC Wilmington

The purpose of Sea-Path is to provide qualifying students with opportunities to complete a transferable associate’s degree at CFCC and then seamlessly transition to one of UNCW’s undergraduate colleges. Sea-Path will also allow students to benefit from concurrent enrollment with CFCC and UNCW. Sea-Path students will be able to take up to three classes at UNCW (one per semester for up to three semesters).

  • Must have graduated from high school and completed Minimum Course Requirements (MCR) established by the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina System
  • Must have been enrolled at CFCC for one full semester and have a CFCC GPA of 2.5 - classes can be in-progress at the time you are applying.

Before Applying:

We strongly suggest students meet with their Cape Fear advisor for an initial conversation about requirements, UNCW classes’ transferability, and alignment with your Associate degree plans.

Apply as a Visiting-Regular Permission student through the UNCW Application Portal. On the application, select that you are interested in the Sea-Path program. Students will be asked to complete the brief application each term they plan to enroll in courses at UNCW.

  • Students are responsible to provide an updated RCN for residency purposes (on the application). This can affect in-state/out-of-state tuition rates for students.
  • Students will be required to complete a Campus Safety Information form as part of the application process.
  • Students will be required to submit a Student Disclosure Request. This will allow your Sea-Path advisor at UNCW to access your CFCC program evaluation.

Application Deadlines:

Spring Cohort: November 15
Fall Cohort: June 15

Students can take one class per term, online or face-to-face at the main campus. Tuition and fee charges will be dependent on the type of course you choose and can be found on the Student Accounts webpage each term.

One Card:

Students can purchase a UNCW One Card ($20.00) for access to services/resources. The One Card allows you to:

  • Check out materials at Randall Library
  • Access meal plans or food dollars at campus dining locations
  • Attend UNCW sporting, arts, and entertainment events
  • Ride the Seahawk Shuttle and WAVE Transit buses free of charge
  • Access the Campus Recreation Center (main campus students only)

UNCW will provide a $200 scholarship toward each concurrently enrolled course (up to three courses, one per semester, with continued UNCW average of 3.0).

Sea-Path students can ride the WAVE Transit buses free of charge with the One Card or park in metered spaces at a rate of $2.00/hour. For more information and other parking options, please visit:

Payment Plan:

UNCW offers an "in house" payment plan through E-bill. Monthly payment amounts are based on the student charges: tuition and fees, housing, meal plans, health insurance, parking decal, post office, and any other miscellaneous charges. Tuition and fees are subject to change based upon final approval by the General Assembly. The enrollment fee is non-refundable. Enrollment is required in a payment plan each semester. Enrollment fee ranges from $30.00 to $50.00–depending on the plan- plus 20% of balance due at sign up.

Registration and Advising:

Your advisor will be your UNCW Transfer Student Success Coordinator at Cape Fear Community College. Please visit our Meet the Staff website for the most up-to-date contact information. Your Transfer Success Coordinator will assist you with advising and course registration after admission.

There is no required Orientation as a Sea-Path concurrently enrolled student. Orientation will be mandatory once you finish your Associate degree and become a full-time student at UNCW.
